day 10:

and then all of a sudden we're here

past the stages of playgrounds, g.i. joes,

and our first ambitions.

we've walked across the stage,

shaking hands with our four year administrators.

we've had our first cups of coffee

and fully appreciated libraries

we look back at our high school year books and remember when we had braces

and read the comments which held a positive outlook on our future.

some of us thought we knew where we'd be

doctors. musicians. lawyers. teachers.

we didn't actually know

they didn't plan on getting pregnant

or expect to watch their high school boyfriends join uncle sam

we don't know how it happened;

we grew up.
